昨日の記事の続き、という形になります。
今回は、efの第２期であるa tale of melodiesのお話。

minori原作　１８禁インタラクティブノベルゲームのアニメ化作品第２期
２００８年１０月から同年１２月まで放送　全１２話

１０年前――――――
音羽学園に通う高校生の火村 夕は、
学校の屋上で一人の少女、雨宮 優子と出会う。
――――――お久しぶりですね。
そう言った優子の言葉の意味が理解出来ない夕。
クラスメイトである広野 凪の買い物に付き合った夕は優子と再会し、
彼女のことを思い出す。

そして、現代――――――
蓮治の元へ遊びに来ていた羽山 ミズキは、
彼の家の隣に住んでいるヴァイオリニスト、
久瀬 修一を訪ねることになる。

というのが第１話の大まかなあらすじですね。
今回は最終章である第４章のお話がメインになってます。

OPは同じ絵ながら、完全白黒だったり、一部色が付いていたり、
配色が逆転されていたりと、毎回異なる演出でした。
第１０話はOPがありませんけどね。
ちなみに最終話のみフルカラー＆日本語歌詞ですが……

第１期の作品テーマは未来に不安を覚える高校生の心の成長、
第２期のテーマはアドバイザー的立ち位置だった夕たちの存在意義だと思います。

養子となって以降１０年間に渡って、
義兄から肉体的にも精神的にも常に傷つけられてきた優子と、
幼い頃に下した自身の決断が、
優子を更に傷つけていたことを知って苦悩する夕。

ヴァイオリニストとして成功しながらも難病を患い、
未来を棄てて全てを清算しようとする久瀬と、
そんな久瀬を励まし、
生きる気力を取り戻させようと必死に足掻くミズキ。

この二組のカップル、それぞれの存在意義……
まあ、愛と言い換えてもいいですが。
それが今回のテーマなのかな？と……

第１期より判りやすい作品になっているのは非常に良いですね。
第１期の思わせぶりなラストカットも、納得出来ると思います。
前作も良いのですが、こちらをより強くお勧めしたいですね。

ところで……この作品の真の主人公とヒロインは
火村 夕と雨宮 優子である
という事に何人が気付いただろうか？

そうですね、１期は２期と比べるとちょっとわかりづらいかもしれませんね。
それでも、１期見ていないと２期の面白さが半減しますよね。
efを全然見たことない人は、やっぱり１期見てから２期見てもらいたい
と思うのですよ！

そりゃ、そうですね～。　まあ、１期見ただけじゃ、そう思わない
かもしれませんね。私の中で、１期だけだと一番記憶に
残ったのは千尋と蓮治なんですが、２期見た後は、完全に
火村と優子がメインでした。

第１期は蓮治と千尋をメインに話が進むので、
火村と優子は第２期のみの主人公＆ヒロイン、
と勘違いする方も居るのではないでしょうか？
実際は、efという作品全体の主人公＆ヒロインですが、
(ここが、わざわざ「真の」という単語を入れた理由)
第１期はサブキャラ扱いですからね……

そうですね。
第１期を見ていないと面白さが半減してしまいますね。
問題は、第１期の難解さを我慢できるか、ということでしょう。

私もその一人でした。
第１期のラストカットも、精々第２期への布石位に捉えていましたから。
ただ、改めて見直すと少ない出番の中で、
ヒントはいくつかあったんですけどね。
どうしても蓮治と千尋の話に意識を持っていかれちゃうんですよね。
