狼と香辛料Ⅱの第４話を見ました。
前回、ホロと仲違いしたロレンスはどうするのか……

第４幕-狼と浅知恵の末路-

ディアナからの手紙をホロに読まれたことから不信感を買ったロレンスは、
不安に駆られながら祭の街を一人で歩き回るうちに、
黄銅石の相場が現在の倍に跳ね上がるであろうという噂を聞く。
宿に戻ったロレンスは、
宿屋の主人からアマーティの現在の資産状況が書かれた手紙と、
ホロの署名入りの結婚誓約書を渡される。
残された時間は約１日。
期限まで足掻いて阻止しようと決心したロレンスは、
アマーティに黄銅石を用いた信用買いによる商売で勝負を挑むことに。
だが、ここには二つの大きな問題があった。
ロレンスはこの問題を解決し、勝利することが出来るのか？

ホロは読み書きが出来ないという話でしたが、
契約書に署名しているということは、
簡単な文字や単語なら読み書きできる、って事でしょうね。
手紙を代筆させたのは字が汚いのもありますが、
文章に出来ないというのもあるんでしょう。

警戒してロレンスの誘いに乗ろうとはしないアマーティだったが、
ホロに惚れた弱みをロレンスに巧みに利用されて、
怒りに任せた形で勝負を受けることに……
それでもアマーティは勝算がありそうですが。

暴落を引き起こすためにロレンスの抱える問題、一つ目は黄銅石の確保。
二つ目は黄銅石の相場ですね。
現在の相場で銀貨１０００枚に相当する黄銅石を揃える事が出来るかどうか。
そして、仮に揃えたとしても期限までに黄銅石の相場を下げられるかどうか。
その布石として麦の高騰を画策しているようですが……
どうなるんでしょうね？

素朴な疑問なんですが、
ロレンスは信用買いの取引でアマーティに現金即払いの
銀貨５００枚で交渉し、それを成立させました。
しかし、その前のホロの手紙によるアマーティの財産報告では、
現金は銀貨２００枚・銀貨３００枚分の黄銅石・
処分可能な財産は銀貨２００枚分となっています。
アマーティはどうやって５００枚の銀貨を揃えたんでしょうか？
