戦う司書 The Book of Bantorra 第１８話

戦う司書の第１８話を見ました。ハミュッツの不正を暴くため、
オリビアを連れてバントーラを再び離れたヴォルケンだったが……

第１８話-プロペラと追想と鉛の人間-

ハミュッツの不正を暴き、
バントーラから放逐するために戻ってきたヴォルケンは、
その証拠を持つオリビアと出会い、再びバントーラから姿を消した。
ハミュッツはヴォルケンの師でもあるビザクに、
追撃と抹殺の命令を下すと同時に、
自らもまたヴォルケンを追って単独でバントーラを離れる。

バントーラからの追っ手として立ちはだかるビザクを、
幻体の魔法で圧倒するヴォルケン。
その様子を観察していたオリビアは、
白煙号で叛乱を企てた当時の記憶の一部を思い出すのだった。

ヴォルケンと白煙号、そしてレナスの関係から、
それが館長代行となる以前にフォトナから与えられた任務で、
全滅させたはずの教団の人造兵器である、
ベンド＝ルガーであることを悟ったハミュッツは、
その存在を苦々しく思いながらも戦いに心を躍らせていた。

一方留守を任されたバントーラの武装司書たちの元には、
ビザクが殺されたという一報が届いていた。
自分の師を手にかけたヴォルケンが許せない司書たちは、
ミレポックを通じて司書たちがヴォルケンを支持している、
という偽の情報を与えるのだが……

ミレポとラスコールの一件で、
教団とバントーラに何らかの繋がりがあることが判明し、
ミンスの一件でそれが幸福な本と関係していることが判った訳ですが、
今回はもっと深く突っ込んだところまで見えてきましたね。

第１話で登場した謎のキーワードである「ベンド＝ルガー」ですが、
ハミュッツの回想から元々は対武装司書用の兵器として、
教団が人間をベースに開発した人造兵器であること、
そしてベンド＝ルガーは思考や情報を共有しているため、
１体が得た情報は全ての個体に伝達されることが明らかにされ、
教団や武装司書が守る「天国」を脅かす、
菫の咎人の意思を受け継いでいることから滅ぼされた、
ということまでは判明しました。

と同時に、館長代行であるフォトナが、
教団最高責任者である楽園管理者の人事権を有している発言から、
武装司書と教団は利害関係から協力しているのではなく、
バントーラ図書館の思惑によって作り出されたのが教団、
という部分も見えてきましたね。
ミンスの一件に於けるハミュッツの発言も考慮に入れると、
楽園管理者は元々武装司書だったと考えるのが妥当でしょう。

尤も、現・楽園管理者はバントーラに対する反逆のため、
ベンド＝ルガーを製造したことまでは明らかにされましたが、
残念ながらその動機までは判明しませんでした。
楽園管理者という地位を与えられ、汚れ役を強制された恨み、ですかね？

そして、天国を守るために幸福の本を作り出すのが教団、という感じですが、
肝心の、何故幸福の本が必要なのか？という部分に関しては謎です。

第１話以来となるヴォルケンの戦闘シーン。
正直彼は強いのか弱いのか良く判らなかったんですが、
そこそこの実力者であるビザクを圧倒する辺りは、
かなり強いんでしょうね。
正直私は、ヴォルケンはもっと苦戦するものと思ってました。

ヴォルケン反逆の一報を聞いた、楽園管理者が送り込んだ刺客・ダルトム。
オネェ言葉で話す彼ですが、手傷を負ったビザクを背後から殺したり、
その強さに対して疑問が甚だしく残るわけですが、
思わせぶりな登場しながらあっさりやられる雑魚キャラなのか？

ビザク殺害の濡れ衣を着せられ、武装司書全員を敵に回したヴォルケン。
そしてミレポの流した偽の情報によって、
ヴォルケンに気付かれること無く最接近したハミュッツ。
気になるのは菫の咎人と呼ばれた教団の真人の存在ですが、
どうもOPに出てくる幼いハミュッツと一緒に居る少女に見えるのは、
私の気のせいでしょうかね？
