とある科学の超電磁砲 第２２話

超電磁砲の第２２話を見ました。衿衣が探している友人が、
かつての木山の教え子だと知った美琴だが……

第２２話-レベル６(神ならぬ身にて天上の意志に辿り着く者)-

ポルターガイスト現象によって、
MARの医療施設へと運び込まれた春上衿衣が聞く声。
その声の主が幻想御手事件を引き起こした木山春生の教え子の一人、
枝先絆理であることを知った美琴は、
絆理が昏睡するきっかけとなった実験責任者の木原幻生が、
人体実験も辞さないマッドサイエンティストであることを、
テレスティーナから聞かされる事となる。

事件解決のためには絆理を探し出すことが必要だと聞かされた美琴たち。
しかし春上や絆理を疑う黒子たちに初春が不快感を示したことから、
４人の関係はギクシャクとし始める。
だが問題の子供たちは都市内の医療施設に搬送された後に、
その行方を転々としており、初春の情報収集能力をもってしても、
その行方を掴むことは出来なかった。

なんとなく初春たちに顔を合わせ辛い佐天と美琴は、
早く絆理が見つかるように祈るのだが、
そんな彼女たちの元にテレスティーナから、
木山が保釈されたという情報が舞い込んでくる。
一方、黒子はAIM拡散力場の共鳴によって、
RSPK症候群が集団発生する可能性の論文の情報を入手する。

論文の著者が今回の事件の発端となった、
木原幻生であることを知った美琴は、
単独で彼の研究施設の一つを訪れるのだが、
そこで保釈された木山春生と再会する事となる。

今回意外な形で明らかになった初春の能力。
触っている物体の温度を一定に保つ能力、ということですが、
現時点で考えられる最有力は発火能力で熱を起こしている可能性、
次に考えられるのが美琴と同じ電撃能力でしょうかね。
ただ、レベル１で遠赤外線と同じことを出来るのか？という点と、
電撃の場合両手で挟まなければ無理という点を考えると、
発火能力で熱を起こしているという考え方の方が自然でしょうね。
まあ、冷たいものでも同じように温度を保てるのなら、
発火能力は当てはまりませんが……

本格的に再登場した木山ですが、
今回のポルターガイストの一件に絡んできました。
例の昏睡状態の教え子たちが覚醒直前にRSPK症候群を発症する、
暴走状態の能力者であること。
そして木山の実験がレベル６を生み出すための、
能力体結晶投与実験であることが判明しましたが、
ここにも幾つかの謎が存在していますね。
木原の実験の被験者が生存しているのかどうか、という点と、
木原が何処へ失踪したのか、という点などですが、
どちらもなんとなくですが、予測は付きます。
鍵を握るのは、テレスティーナと春上かな。
突き止めるのは初春と予想。

今回の副題ともなっているレベル６(絶対能力者)ですが、
学園都市の表向きの存在理由はこのレベル６を生み出す、
SYSTEM(神ならぬ身にて天上の意志に辿り着く者)の確立。
尤も原作では辿り着けるのは一方通行のみ。
しかも２８０年の時間を要するため、それを一気に短縮するために、
妹達を利用した実験を行っていたわけですが、
今回登場した能力体結晶は、
被験者の能力をレベル５相当まで引き上げる効果がある、と推測できます。
そもそも未知の領域であるレベル６へ到達させるためには、
その前段階であるレベル５に到達できなければ、
わざわざ発表する価値が低いと思われるので。

具体的にどうやって引き上げるかは、あくまで私の予測ですが、
滝壺と同じように意図的に能力の暴走状態を引き起こし、
それを制御させるという、ある意味矛盾した行動なのかもしれませんね。
(滝壺が使っていたのは「体晶」と呼ばれるものでしたが)

木山と再会したことで、
ポルターガイストが発生する秘密を知った美琴。
あくまでも自分が目覚めさせると主張する木山の前に、
美琴の後を付けていたテレスティーナが現れ……
