Fate/Zero 第１９話

Fate/Zeroの第１９話を見ました。
周囲への被害を考えず魔術の研究に明け暮れる父を殺害した切嗣だったが、島を脱出した彼
は父親が起こした事件など日常茶飯事の一つである事を知り愕然としてしまう。

-#19　正義の在処-

南海の孤島アリマゴで起こった事件。
衛宮矩賢の作り出した試薬によって引き起こされた死徒化と、聖堂教会・魔術協会の介入によ
って凄惨な状況となった島で、逃走を果たした後も父が同じ研究を続ける事を知った切嗣は、惨
劇の再現を未然に防ぐためにも自らの手で矩賢を殺め、ナタリア・カミンスキーの手引きで島を
脱出することに成功した。
だが父親の庇護を離れて初めて見る外の世界では、自身が体験した出来事など日常的に起こ
る事件の一つでしかない事実を知る。
そして自分の成した事に意味を求めるには、父のような魔術師を全て狩り尽くす以外に方法が
ないと悟ると切嗣は望んでナタリアの弟子となり、彼女が持つ知識と技術を叩き込まれていく。
奇しくもそれは外法を生きる魔術師を狩る存在、即ち封印指定執行者という狩人として生きると
いう意味を持っていた。

師でありパートナーでもあるナタリアと様々な戦場を渡り歩き、多感な青春期に苛烈な生き方を
した切嗣だったが、彼女と共に行動して数年が過ぎたある日の事、一つの転機が訪れる。
蜂を用いた限定的な死徒化を成し遂げた事で封印指定となった魔術師、「魔蜂使い」の二つ名
を持つオッド・ボルザークを追いかけていた二人は、ボルザークがニューヨーク行きの飛行機に
搭乗する事実を突き止め、ナタリアが同乗すると同時に切嗣はニューヨークへ先行してボルザ
ークの協力者を始末する事となった。
地上と上空で同時に行われる任務は共に成功しナタリアはボルザークを、切嗣は協力者を排
除するのだが、ボルザークが体内に蜂を隠し持っていた事から機内は惨劇に包まれてしまう。
上空からの脱出手段を持ちえず、窮地に追い込まれてしまうナタリア。
一方で地上に残っていた切嗣は、ある目的の為に独自に動き始めるのだが……


というのが第１９話の大まかなあらすじですね。
今回の用語解説はちょっと多目です。
刻印
魔術師の証の一つである魔術刻印のこと。
魔術研究の最終到達点である根源へは一代限りで辿り着く事は不可能であり、過程となる研究
成果を次代へと引き継がせる事で更なる研究を進めていく必要がある。
この研究成果と魔術師本人が修めた魔術を固定化したものを魔術刻印と呼称し、これを次の頭
主へ継承させる事により一族単位で長い時間をかけて研究を進めていくことになる。魔術研究に
のみ特化したＨＤＤと言い換えても良い代物であり、刻印の継承者は自身が修得していない魔術
でも過去の頭主が修めた魔術であれば行使することが可能。
魔術が一子相伝な理由は、この魔術刻印が複製不可能な代物だからでもある。
衛宮家の魔術刻印は矩賢の遺体と共に魔術協会に回収されていたがナタリアの交渉の結果、
極一部を切嗣へと譲り渡されているものの本来の２割にも満たない総量でしかない。
作中に於いて魔術の修行を殆ど行っていない切嗣が、時間操作の魔術を行使出来る理由もこの
魔術刻印の恩恵ともいえる。
起源弾
衛宮切嗣の持つ魔術礼装。
起源とは世界に存在するあらゆるものに対して原初、即ち誕生した瞬間に与えられた方向性の
根幹を成すもののこと。或いは世界から植え付けられた、決して抗えない絶対命令のようなもの。
切嗣の起源は火属性の「切断」と土属性の「結合」の効果を併せ持っており、「切って嗣ぐ」という
不可逆の変質という特性がある。
この特性を他者に対しても発現出来るように作り出された概念武装が起源弾であり、切除した切
嗣の肋骨を粉末状にしたうえで魔術的な処理を施しライフル弾の精製過程で弾頭に封入している。
魔術を用いる事が出来ない普通の人間に対しても効果があるが、魔術師に対してはより深刻な
効果を引き起こし、起源弾に魔術干渉を行った魔術師は魔術回路を出鱈目に繋ぎ合わされて自
滅させられてしまうため、純物理的な手段でしか防御し得ない。
ナタリアはこの起源弾を６６発精製したが、切嗣は第４次聖杯戦争開始直前までに３７発を消費し
ており、その全てに於いて対象となる魔術師を葬り去っている。
封印指定執行者
希少な研究成果や魔術、或いはその素養を保有する事で魔術協会から封印指定を受けた魔術師
の保護ないし抹殺を行う魔術師の事で、魔術師による対魔術師戦闘のスペシャリスト。
実際に封印指定を受けた魔術師は雲隠れすることが殆どであり、主な仕事は魔術師の禁を犯した
者、即ち外法の魔術師を狩ることにあるため矩賢のような本物の封印指定魔術師を狩ることは滅
多に無い。(矩賢は潜伏先で問題を起こす事が多いため、かなり前から回収指令が出ていた)
封印指定魔術師は賞金首、執行者は賞金稼ぎと言い換えれば判り易いかと。
ナタリアと切嗣は魔術協会に属さないフリーランスの執行者として生業を立てているが、それは裏
を返せばそれだけ禁を犯す魔術師が多い事を意味している。
屍食鬼(グール)
オッド・ボルザークが作り出した死徒の一種で、理性は無く本能に従って見境無く人間を襲い仲間
にする。判り易い言葉で言うなれば、ゾンビということになる。
吸血鬼と呼ばれる死徒に至る過程の存在であり、数ヶ月から数年をかけて霊的に脳や肉体を補完
することで完全な死徒となる。
前回のシャーレイはこの過程をすっ飛ばして直接吸血鬼となったが、吸血衝動を抑えきれずに正気
を失い他者を襲う事で島の住民を屍食鬼にしている。(つまり吸血鬼だったのはシャーレイだけ)


２週に渡って描かれる切嗣の過去。
前回は切嗣が魔術の世界に関わっていくきっかけとなった話でしたが、今回は切嗣の歪んだ正義
の原点とも言うべきお話でしょうかね。
なお、私はtvk視聴だったので字幕テロ攻撃を受けたのは言うまでも無いですがw

冒頭は第１クールのVSケイネス先生でちょこっとだけ触れられた起源弾についてのおさらいから。
あの時は意識が朦朧としている切嗣視点で描かれていた事もあってシルエットでしたけど、今回
はナタリアも顔出ししている事もあって引いた絵での説明でしたね。
そしてあっさりとショタ嗣さんは出番終了。というか台詞終了、の方が正しいのかな？
まだ１０代前半から半ばの少年なのに、声は小山力也さんという違和感が……
そして曲がりなりにも普通に暮らしていたはずの日本人少年が殺し屋になっていく姿……
あれ？似たような展開が別の作品にもあったような。
ヒロインが高垣さんで、主人公が入野さんで、直属の上司が渡辺さんで被ってるし、これは偶然
なのかそれとも狙っていたのか。

アリマゴ島の惨劇を繰り返させないために父親を殺したものの、結局それは小さなコップで海水
を１回だけ掬い上げたのと大差ないことを知ってしまった切嗣さん。
その事実が段々と彼の正義を歪ませていくわけですが、実際ナタリアさんの言うとおり無意味の
一言で片付けられるような行為ですからねえ。
切嗣が止めたのはあくまでも「矩賢の悪行とそれに巻き込まれて死ぬ一般人の数」だけであっ
て、他の矩賢と同じような魔術師まで止めたわけではありませんからね。
とはいえ、当時９歳の世間知らずだった少年にそこまでの思慮が働くわけもありませんし……
だからといってそこで仕方ないと感情的に割り切れるような性格でもなかったのが、切嗣の不幸
ともいえますけどね。

大勢を助けるために、少数を犠牲にする。
例えそれが自分の家族や恋人に近しい存在が犠牲となる側に含まれていようとも、それ以上に
多くの命が救えるのであればそれを実行する。
それは人としての感情が欠落しているからではなく、最小の被害で済ませられる効率的な方策
であることを悟り、必要な犠牲と割り切れる切嗣の精神の異常性とも言えます。

自身にとって大切な人たちを切り捨ててなお、連鎖する世界の争いを止められなかった切嗣。
絶望的な戦いを繰り返していく中で、アインツベルンによって示されたもう一つの、そして最後の
可能性に望みを託して身を投じた第４次聖杯戦争は、いよいよ最終局面へと向かっていく。
