WiiやニンテンドーDSを発売している任天堂は純利益8.5%増(前年比)で、
過去最高を記録したそうだ。
SCEのプレイステーションシリーズ、SEGAのサターンやドリームキャスト、
マイクロソフトのX-BOXが次々とCD-ROMや当時の先進記録媒体のDVDを採用する中、
任天堂は次世代ゲーム機開発で大きく遅れをとっていた。

しかし、次世代ポータブルゲーム機「ニンテンドーDS」発売以降上昇。
SCEが同様にポータブルゲーム機「PSP」を発売するものの、
盛り返した任天堂の勢いを止めることは敵わなかった。

同様にマイクロソフトも後継機「X-BOX360」を送り出すも、任天堂が満を持して出した
「Wii」の前にはいかんともし難く、コンシューマゲーム機戦争は任天堂の圧勝である。

正直、ここまで任天堂が盛り返してくるとは思っていなかった。
ただ、任天堂の一人勝ちがあまり長く続くようだと困る。
SCEの逆襲はあるのか!?
マイクロソフトは、どうする!?
他の会社が待ったをかけてくるか!?
今後が少し楽しみでもある。
