２００９年１２月終了作品の感想をぼちぼちと……
まずはNEEDLESSから

-NEEDLESS-

今井神原作　集英社発行　ウルトラジャンプ連載漫画のアニメ化作品
２００９年７月から、同年１２月まで放送　全２４話

第３次世界大戦の影響で核ミサイルを打ち込まれた日本は、
ブラックスポットと呼ばれる汚染地域がその傷跡を残していた。
そして、ブラックスポットを囲む壁の内と外で格差が生まれ、
シティと呼ばれる外の住人はブラックスポット内部の人間を、
ニードレス(不要者)と呼ぶようになっていったが、
彼らの中から特殊な力を宿すものが徐々に現れ始めていた。

レジスタンスに所属し、
姉と共にブラックスポットで生活する少年、クルス・シルトはある日、
仲間と共にニードレス狩りを行うシメオン製薬総帥である、
アダム・アークライトの襲撃計画に参加するが、
アークライト配下の四天王によって全滅させられる。
姉であるアルカを失い、自身もまたシメオンの殺戮兵器に追い込まれるクルス。
だが、そんな絶体絶命の危機を、
ブレイドと名乗る謎の神父によって救われる事となる。

一方、アークライトは唯一取り逃がしたクルスと、
それを助けたブレイドの抹殺をカフカと右天・左天の三人に命令する。
このうち、一番最初に接触したカフカは、
糸の能力でブレイドを徐々に追い込んでいくが、
「相手の能力を覚える」というブレイドの能力によって敗北することになる。

というのが第１話の大まかなあらすじです。

というわけで、先週の段階で最終回を迎えていたNEEDLESSですが、
記事を書くのが遅くなった理由は、
別に私の地元のtvkが一週間遅れの放送だからではなく、
単に疲労だったり他の記事との兼ね合いだったりしただけです。
何しろこの第４クールの木・金曜日は記事にしていないだけで、
実際に見ているアニメは９本ありますからね……

まあそれはともかく、作品の主人公がブレイドなのかクルスなのか、
悩まされる面もあるけど、
イヴの立ち位置を考えると主人公はブレイドなのかな？
といった感じの作品であるNEEDLESS。
最初は弄られるクルスにボケ役のイヴと、
ツッコミ担当のブレイドといった感じで、
第１話なんかクルスに対するイヴの言動にブレイドがとことんツッコミを入れていましたが、
クルスを山田と呼んで下僕扱いしたのを契機ツッコミが減少。
更に内山田コンビ誕生以降からポジションが代わり始め、
イヴとブレイドのＷボケに内山田コンビがツッコミ担当に……

序盤のブレイドとイヴのやり取りによる位置付けは、
一体なんだったんでしょうね？

イヴが決めたあだ名は絶対、と言わんばかりに、
クルス以外から徹底的に内田と呼ばれた照山。
確かディスクやギド博士にすら内田で通された気もしますが、
まあドラゴンボールで云うヤムチャ的なキャラ
(相手を甘く見て一人で相手をしようとするが、返り討ちに遭うポジション)
なので、彼は内田のままでいいと思いますw

ニードレスの細胞のこととか、フィールドジェネレーターのこととか、
良く見ると実は伏線が張ってあったりするんですが、
イヴが攫われて以降がバトルの連続と回想だったりで、
再登場するまですっかり存在を忘れ去られていた感じでもあります。
四天王にしても左天が若干置いてきぼりでしたが、
すっかり忘れ去られた感じがするのは楼閣寺離瑠でしょうかね。
彼女の存在価値は直属の少女部隊同様、
作品のお色気担当でしか無かった気もします。

そして天津飯とピッコロ的なポジションのセトとソルヴァ。
実は単体での見せ場が存在しなかったという、
ある意味不幸なキャラたちですね。
派手な初登場をした割には実力的には今一つ、といったところでしょうか。

必殺技を用いるときに、キャラが技の名前を叫んだり、
それを象徴するかのような演出が入ったりと、
何処となく昔のバトル漫画を彷彿とさせるような能力バトル作品。
バトル描写もシンプルな作りになっているので、
演出込みで好みが分かれるところかも知れません。

尤も、うざったいのは前半の戦闘シーンだけで、
中盤から後半は戦闘シーンが連続で描かれている関係上か、
過剰演出がなくなってきましたね。

ギャグバトルアニメとしてなら良し、
過度な期待をかけずに見るのが良いと思いますよ。
