とある魔術の禁書目録Ⅱ ＃５

とある魔術の禁書目録Ⅱの第５話を見ました。
各々の理由と口実の下にローマ正教からオルソラを救出するため、奇襲をかけた当麻たち。
２５０人に及ぶアニェーゼの部下を相手にし、無事に脱出できるのか？


#５　蓮の杖(ロータスワンド)

処刑されるためにローマへ連れ戻されるオルソラを助け出すため、
捕縛された部下を助けるついでという理由で建宮率いる天草式と、
当麻がオルソラの首に掛けた十字架を理由にイギリス清教徒とみなすという口実で、
アニェーゼ率いる２５０人のローマ正教シスター部隊が集うオルソラ教会を襲撃し、
無事にオルソラの身柄を奪還した当麻たち。

個々の戦闘能力が高い天草式のメンバーやステイルの炎の魔術もさることながら、
インデックスが１０万３千冊の魔道書を記憶する魔道図書館としての特性を発揮し、
集団心理の矛盾を突く魔滅の声によって数的不利を補ってきたのだが、
追撃指揮官であるルチアが魔滅の声の影響から逃れるために、
自ら鼓膜を潰すという最も確実かつ原始的な手段で無力化したことで、
当麻たちは一転して不利な状況へと追い込まれてしまう。

圧倒的不利な状況を打開するための方法。
それは今後の危険が増すのを承知でオルソラの見つけ出した解読法を用い、
インデックスが記憶している法の書の原典を解読することで、
交渉の材料とすることだったのだが、
オルソラの解読法の説明を受け始めたインデックスは冷酷に、
彼女が見つけ出した解読法が誤った代物であることを指摘するのだった。

法の書の解読に失敗したインデックスたちと、襲い掛かってくるアニェーゼ部隊。
事態を打開するある秘策のため、
当麻はステイルらと別れて単身アニェーゼの元へ奇襲を仕掛けるのだが、
霊装「蓮の杖(ロータスワンド)」による不可視の攻撃に苦戦させられる事となる。


というのが第５話の大まかなあらすじですね。
未解読のままインデックスが記憶していた法の書の解読を試みたオルソラですが、
仲間だったローマ正教からは命を狙われ、
見つけ出した解読方法も実はダミーだったことが判明したりと、
魔道書を破壊したいと願っていたオルソラの苦労は報われなかったわけで。
しかし放っておけば殺されていたことを考えれば、
イギリス清教に保護されたのは救いといえば救いだったわけですね。
で、オルソラが解読しようとした法の書についてもう少し詳しく触れられるかと思っていたら、
放置気味だったので仕方なく補完を……
禁書目録の世界では魔道書は物理的に破壊することの出来無い代物です。
オルソラが解読方法を探っていたのは魔道書を破壊する手掛かりを見つけるためですね。
そして魔道書は強力な毒素を持っていて、表紙を見ただけでも精神が壊される、
といわれている代物。
ここまでは第１期を通して作中でも描かれていますが、
今回の法の書が他の魔道書と大きく異なる点は２つ。
一つは１００通り以上の解読方法があるため、本当の解読方法が判らないという点。
そしてもう一つは魔道書特有の毒素が存在しないため、人目に晒しても平気という点。
二つ目の要素があるからこそ、法の書を日本に貸し出すということが可能だったわけです。
尤も、実際は天草式に対するダミーだったわけですが……
そして法の書の作者である魔術師・エドワード=アレクサンダー。
正確にはエドワード=アレクサンダー=クロウリー、別名はアレイスター=クロウリーですが、
一度もクロウリーの名前が出てこなかったので、
アニメを見ている限りでは大昔の魔術師と勘違いされてしまいそうですけどね。
実際は学園都市統括理事長である、アレイスターその人ですが……

多分今回のお話で大多数の人が理解出来なかったであろうアニェーゼの過去。
ぶっちゃけて言えば私も全く理解できなかったんですが……
何の伏線も無く、当麻に殴られていきなり過去回想がちょこっとだけ入って、
これでどうやって理解しろというのか。
この回想部分に至る過去の経緯と、その後ローマ正教のシスターになる経緯が無いので、
完全に理解不能です。
確か原作でもアニメのような感じで描かれているから、既読者でも理解不能でしょう。

ステイルの炎の魔神召喚の為の下準備を手伝った天草式。
戦闘面に於いてはイマイチ目立った活躍を見せていなかった天草式ですが、
ルーンのカードを用いて敷地全体を巨大な魔法陣に組み替えることが出来るなど、
彼らならではの活躍を見せてくれました。
十字教・仏教・日本神道を組み合わせ、互いの魔術的弱点を補うように特化した、
多角宗教融合型魔術を用いる天草式ならではのアイデアでしょうね。

そしてステイルに突っ込まれて照れるなど、情的な一面を見せたローラ。
しかし同時に神裂と天草式に対しては、
為政者としての冷酷な一面も垣間見せていましたね。
イギリス清教の庇護を受けるということは、その所在をローラに把握されているということ。
神裂が従い続ける限り、ローマ正教から天草式を守るということは、
裏を返せば牙をむけば天草式を殲滅するということ。
しかもマイナス面ではなくプラス面を提示して懐柔しようというところが、
強かで計算高く冷酷な面を引き立たせていますしね。
まあ、インデックスに１年毎の記憶消去という制約を課して反逆を防いだ人ですから、
そういう一面を見せてもらわないと困るといえば困るわけですが……


これで一応、法の書とオルソラに関するお話はお終い。
次回からは黒子メインのお話となるレムナント編が始まるわけですが……
今回のねーちんは可愛かった。これに尽きるかな、と。
