バレンティンにやられた

雨が上がって、今日も暑いですねえ。
窓を開けてエアコン使わないようにしているわけですが、
夜になっても熱を持っているみたいで非常に暑いんですけど……

さて、昨日の試合では金刃を打ち崩すことが叶わずに６連勝を逃してしまったものの、
昨年までお得意様にされてきた阪神・巨人相手に５連勝をし、
一時的にとはいえ３位に浮上した横浜ベイスターズとしては今の良い流れを繋げるためにも、
そして上位陣を脅かしてペナントレースをかき回すためにも、
今日から始まる東京ヤクルト戦で勝ち越して交流戦に臨みたいところ。
折角連勝で減らした借金を更に減らしていくために、連敗を避けたいところだが、
本日の横浜対東京ヤクルト第４回戦は
東京ヤクルト　６－４　横浜　で、スワローズの勝利です……


本日の先発は横浜が４試合目の登板となるルーキーの須田、
対する東京ヤクルトの先発は比較的相性の良い由規。
ここまで勝利の無い須田は１回表、
１番青木にヒットでの出塁と２番田中のセカンドゴロで１死２塁とされるも、
３番ホワイトセル・４番畠山を渡辺直人の好守備にも助けられて無失点で切り抜ける。
すると直後の１回裏、横浜は１番石川がセンター前ヒットで出塁すると、
２番渡辺の送りバントで２塁へと進み、
３番スレッジのレフト線ギリギリに落ちるタイムリーで幸先良く１点を先制する。

ところが初勝利へ向けて良い形で援護点を貰った須田に、落とし穴が待っていた。
２回表、５番バレンティンに投じた初球のカーブをレフトスタンドへ運ばれて同点にされると、
３回表には青木に四球を与え、田中に送りバントを決められて１死２塁。
続くホワイトセルにヒットを許して１・３塁にされると、
畠山にはレフトへの犠牲フライを打たれて勝ち越しを許し、再びバレンティンを迎える。
チームとしても須田としても、ここを凌いでいればまだまだチャンスは十分にあったのだが、
須田は内角のスライダーで詰まらせてバレンティンのバットをへし折るも、
レフトフライかと思われた打球はそのままスタンドイン。
悪夢のようなツーランホームランを浴びて、リードを３点に広げられてしまう。

立ち上がりの初回こそ鮮やかに点を奪った横浜だったが、
２回以降は悪いなりにも由規に交わされてなかなか点に結び付けられない。
そんな中で迎えた中盤の６回裏、スレッジのヒットと４番村田のツーベースで無死２・３塁とし、
絶好のチャンスを迎えると５番ハーパーの犠牲フライ、７番吉村のタイムリーで２点を返す。

須田は４回以降は完全に立ち直り、
不運な当たりで走者を許すも追加点を与えずに７回まで東京ヤクルト打線を抑えてきたが、
８回表に３番手として登板した江尻が先頭の畠山に四球を与えて出塁を許すと、
またしてもバレンティンにセンターへのツーランホームランを被弾して６失点目。
終盤にリードを３点に広げられてしまう。
それでも諦めない横浜は８回裏、ハーパー・６番金城の連打と吉村の死球出塁で、
無死満塁と絶好の機会を迎えるものの、８番代打・内藤は三振に倒れ、
９番途中出場の藤田がファーストゴロを打つも、途中出場の武内が悪送球して１点を返す。
しかし１死満塁で上位打線へ繋ぎはしたものの石川はピッチャーゴロに、
今日から一軍復帰した代打・森本は三振に倒れて追いつくことが出来ずに万事休す。
９回も守護神・林の前にスレッジ・村田・ハーパーが凡退に倒れ、
結局バレンティン一人に５点を奪われて痛い連敗となった。


本当に今日はバレンティン一人にやられた、って感じですね。
特に３回表のツーランなんか、バットへし折っているのにスタンドまで運ばれちゃったら、
バッテリーとしては打つ手無しでしょうね。
それこそ全打席敬遠するとか、とにかくバットに当てさせたら負け、っていうレベルでした。

須田も良い投球していたんですけど、やはりバレンティンに沈められましたね。
でもまあ、６回2/3ですから失点４はいただけないとしても、今の先発陣なら十分でしょう。
打線もチャンスのところであと一本が出なかったのが悔やまれますが、
今日は由規に上手く交わされてしまったかな？と。
それでもなんだかんだで４点取っているわけですから、バレンティンに被弾していなければ、
須田は勝っていてもおかしくなかったですね。
３回のアレも、前打席の反省云々というレベルではない結果ですから。
詰まらせてバットへし折って、それでもスタンドに運ばれたら、
それはもう投手の責任ではないでしょうね。


さて明日も東京ヤクルト戦ですが、
せっかく５連勝しているだけに明日は勝って３連敗だけは阻止したいところですね。
明日の先発は横浜が高崎、東京ヤクルトは恐らく石川でしょう。
カツオ相手は少々難しいところですが、なんとか打ち崩してもらいたいですね。
