とある魔術の禁書目録Ⅱの第２１話を見ました。
夜の学園都市を包み込む不穏な空気の中で、指名手配される一方通行。
ヴェントの謎の撤退で一時的に命拾いをした上条当麻は……


#２１　学習装置(テスタメント)

学園都市外で待機しているローマ正教の増援部隊侵入を阻むため、
土御門が外周部で侵入した後方支援の魔術師と戦闘に突入した頃、
一方通行は自身を追跡してきた猟犬部隊を殲滅するも、
不運にも現場を警備員に目撃され指名手配されてしまった。

打ち止めを探し出し連れ戻すのに障害となる猟犬部隊を次々と襲撃し、
殲滅していく一方通行だが、
そこに打ち止めの知人へと危機を知らせる上条当麻から電話が入る。
木原との戦いに巻き込まぬよう携帯を捨てて逃げろと忠告する一方通行に対し、
打ち止めを助けるために協力を申し出る当麻。
一方通行は当麻に対し、偽の情報を与えることで事件から遠ざけるように仕向け、
自身は当麻からの情報を頼りに打ち止めの捜索を再開する。

その頃打ち止めを回収した木原は部下である猟犬部隊の報告から、
侵入者であるヴェントが特殊な力を持っている事に気付くが、
アレイスターの指示通りに学習装置を用いて打ち止めへのウィルス注入を開始する。

当麻からの情報に従い、
打ち止めと当麻がヴェントの襲撃を受けたレストラン付近までやってきた一方通行だが、
そこに打ち止めを回収した木原から電話が掛かってくる。
怒りで頭に血が上ったように演じ、木原を挑発することで背後関係を探る一方通行は、
木原の電話での態度から今回の打ち止め回収劇は、
学園都市そのものの意志であることを突き止める。
一方通行からの偽の情報に従い鉄橋へと向かっていた上条当麻だったが、
自身を襲ってきたローマ正教の刺客・前方のヴェントと再会する。
だが一触即発の状況下で、当麻とヴェントは人工天使である、
ヒューズ=カザキリの出現を目の当たりにする事となる。


というのが第２１話の大まかなあらすじでしょうかね。
前回ヴェントは、優勢でありながら謎の吐血によって撤退を余儀なくされたわけですが、
その理由についてはアレイスターの口から魔術暴走による自壊であることが明かされました。
まずはこの事について今回は語っていく事にしましょう。

原作でも現段階(２２巻時点)に於いて、アレイスターの本当の目的が判明していません。
無論迂闊に語るとネタバレになってしまうわけですが、アニメ２１話時点で判明しているのは、
アレイスターの目的の一つは「魔術師の滅亡」にある事が、
彼や土御門の台詞からもはっきりと判ります。
第１期の時点ではAIM拡散力場によって生み出された虚構の学園都市＝虚数学区五行機関、
という解釈ではありましたが、今回のお話でそれだけではない、ということが判りました。
つまり「魔術師を自滅させるための結界」という側面を持っていることが判明したわけですね。
アレイスターは「現在の出力では世界全体を覆うことは出来ないが」と言っていますので、
行く行くは虚数学区五行機関を世界規模で発動させる事を視野に入れている、
という解釈が出来ます。

次にヴェントの用いている天罰術式について語るとしましょうかね。
作中でインデックスが語っていますが、ヴェントの天罰は特定の感情を引き金に発動する、
大規模自動攻撃型の術式で、ヴェントが設定している感情を抱いた人間に効果が現れます。
まあ、ヴェント自身が「敵意」という言葉を頻繁に用いているため、
発動条件は「敵意を抱いた人間に対して」で確定ではありますが。
インデックスが説明している通り、この術式には射程距離というものが存在していません。
その為、どれほど距離が離れていようとも天罰の効果を与えることが出来るということと、
自動攻撃型のため攻撃対象に照準をつける必要が無い、という利点を有していますが、
同時に敵意を向ける対象を考慮せず「敵意を抱いた全ての人間」を無差別に攻撃することと、
敵意を抱かない人間に対しては効かない、という欠点をも有しています。
学園都市で使用しているにも拘らず、日本国外で天罰の影響と思しき状況になっているのは、
この欠点が作用しているためですね。
同様に木原に対して効果が無かったのも、木原がヴェントを格下と認識していて、
敵意を抱いていなかったからでしょう。
ただし、戦闘中の美琴と猟犬部隊に効果が及ばなかった理由に関しては判りませんが……


打ち止めの元へ辿り着き、木原と一対一の状況を作り出した一方通行だが、
バッテリーが残り少ない中で反射を無力化できる木原相手に勝機はあるのか？
風霧を助けるため、ヴェントの前に立ち塞がる上条当麻。
しかし未だ底が見えない「神の右席」を相手に勝算は？
